Working together
With a mandate to protect the world’s 32.9 million refugees and other persons of concern, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees needs to work with a wide variety of donors and partners to adequately fulfill its role.
NGO Partners
In Malaysia, UNHCR engages a variety of partners in order to fulfill its mandate, ranging from government agencies to non-governmental organisations, the private sector, civil society and refugee communities. These partners are engaged for different purposes including humanitarian diplomacy, advocacy and awareness-raising, resource mobilization, and refugee protection and assistance.
UNHCR in Malaysia partners with a variety of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to provide welfare assistance to refugees, and also to advocate for their protection with local authorities.

Volunteers
For tens of millions of people around the world, volunteering is an expression of support for a principle that strikes to the heart of the United Nations system: that by working together, we can make the world a better place for everyone.
Every day, more than 39,000 refugee men, women and children in Malaysia are in desperate need of protection and assistance. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is mandated to protect and find durable solutions for those fleeing persecution and violence. Aside protection, refugees need help living their lives in Malaysia through employment, healthcare services, and education. But UNHCR cannot do this alone.
Fortunately, there are many people in Malaysia willing to help make a difference in the lives of refugees by volunteering their time and skills. [ more ]
